Easter fun

We had such a festive Easter/Spring Break that I thought I would post a few pictures. Our holiday started out at a friends house. We decorated Easter eggs. The plain old egg dye in a kit just works the best. I bought a tie-dye egg decorating kit that didn't work so well. I should know better and just stick with the classics. Then we made corn flake birds nests with jellybean eggs. The kids thought these were great. Isaac just ate the jellybeans! We finished off the evening with a Brer Rabbit movie. Great! Now what do I do the other four days of Spring Break!

Jared went to Moab of course for Easter Jeep Safari. This is the first Easter that I have stayed home just for the heck of it. Over the past ten years I have only missed twice because of brand new babies. Jared hasn't missed once yet and plans on keeping it a tradition. He loves it and his Jeep just keeps on going.

We figured making Easter crowns would be much more fun than buying Easter bonnets. (Which we don't do anyway), but some card stock and tissue paper sure turned out cute. I had glitter all over my house for a week!

Three Easter egg hunts and all kinds of goodies and candy produced a two year old boy that when asked about what Easter really meant, could only say "Eggs! Eggs! Eggs!"

Mattie's 5th Birthday

Mattie had a great birthday the end of March. The local fam got together and went bowling. It's pretty fun to watch (and help) little kids bowl. But it's pretty sad when Mattie's four-year old cousin broke a score of 100 and I didn't. I think I needed bumpers on my lane too! Dinner, cake and presents followed. Mattie also received a scooter for her birthday. She can't quite balance on it, but gives it a good try anyway.

Blog?. . . . . What Blog?!

Sheesh! I knew that March and April were going to be busy, but they have cruised, flown, whirred past me faster than I would have liked. It's almost May and time to do outside stuff like clean up the yard, go for bike rides and walks, clean up the yard, draw chalk pictures, plant a garden and . . . oh yeah . . . clean up the YARD!!!

Mallory had her first "friends" Birthday party. Eight girls came. Then add Isaac, Mallory, and Mattie and you have got one hoppin' party! It was a "do it yourself" party. The girls decorated their own party hats, made their own ice cream, and then decorated their own cupcakes. Everybody seemed to have a great time and Mallory had a grin on her face from the moment she woke up in the morning until she passed out that evening.
Mallory's outfit is so funny. She got some capri's from her grandma and decided they matched.
After receiving a scooter for her birthday, Mallory informed me that we could give away her bike. She was still struggling trying to ride her bike without training wheels. So last Sunday when we came home in the evening, Jared told her she couldn't ride her scooter anymore until she could ride her bike without the TW's. Well, that was it. She gave Jared one grumpy tearful look and got on her bike. She did not want one bit of help from him! And that was about it. She bobbled up and down the street that evening. The next morning she got up and was on her bike like a pro after breakfast and hasn't looked back since. The first day was eat, ride bike. Then ride bike around the church while mom was inside for an hour. Then ride bike until lunch. Eat. Ride bike. Up and down. Back and forth. Eat dinner. Ride some more. "Do I have to come in for a bath? How about you call me when Isaac and Mattie are all done." She still likes the scooter, but thinks a bike without TW's is so much more fun. And now all of a sudden we realize . . . . .
with tears down our cheeks and long looks down the street . . . that she is definately getting too big, too fast!
